From the Election Security Act to Midterm Redistricting, the Florida Legislature has taken a number of steps to limit home rule and democracy. This Sunday, we welcome Donna Waller, President of the League of Women Voters of Alachua County, to our Fellowship’s pulpit. She will discuss the actions which the Florida Legislature has taken and the ways in which the LWV of Alachua County and Florida have responded. Jeff Stevens serves as worship associate, and James Chase reads our story for all ages. Jane Kozhevnikova provides music.
On July 19th our Fellowship will “Share the Plate” with the League of Women Voters of Alachua County’s Gun Violence Prevention and Safety Committee, which works to reduce gun violence in our community in collaboration with Alachua County, the City of Gainesville, and gun violence prevention organizations. The committee focuses on secure firearm storage education, the role of guns in suicide, and related legislation.
