Playground

Jonathan Coron has volunteered to lead the plans for new playground equipment. Marci said that FloridaPlayground.com in Tampa is the best source for recycled plastic equipment. Any equipment must be approved by our insurance co. Church Mutual. Lisa said that Al had made a monkey bar and was now ready to donate it to UUF. Thanks Al! She also proposed we invite Jonathan to our next meeting to solicit input and then let him run with it.

There was discussion about the Playground Patio, especially how wonderful it would be to have one. We all know it would be expensive. Lisa said she would try to get a quote on a price for a 35 X 20 space.

Playground Equipment

A packet of info has arrived about playground equipment--the same companies that provide state park equipment. Is the time ripe for new stuff?

The playground brochures are on the round table in a large, white envelope.  Lisa reports that we have enough coffee money to make some improvements.  The Slones have bought equipment from this company and recommended them.

Playground Maintenance

Ants on the playground: B&G needs to be notified asap whenever we see ants. B&G has been treating the playground but missed some. During camp we also discovered (the hard way) that the stinging nettle crept back inside the fence. Becky Moulton will respond quickly to reports of ants, nettle, etc.  Please contact her if you see anything villainous.

Thank You (3/28/09)

Thank yous to Jean Cook and Jay Whitehead for donating the Child Life play equipment for our playground. Thanks to Jonathan Coron for assessing the equipment and advising us on how to best move it.

And huge thank yous all around for those who joined us to devote almost 3 hours this morning to dismantle and move the equipment to UUFG: Bob Kendall, Paul Avery, Lois Gholz and her friend Kevin D'Amico, and my husband Chris Beckmann. It took 3 trucks, one trailer, one marine, and lots of humor and elbow grease to get the job done.

We hope that more folks will help sand and paint and stabilize the equipment so that it sparkles by the Easter picnic. Please let me know if you have time during the week or next weekend (April 10th), and we'll have all the supplies ready.
