The President's Perspective -- June 2016

Dear Members,

It is with mixed emotions that I write my last column as president. I have so enjoyed this year working with the other Board members and I am sorry to leave the Board. However, I leave knowing that the new Board is in good hands with Pete Runyan at the helm. [Click "Read more..." to continue.]

This has been a year of learning to work with a new minister, trying to work better with each other, and trying to rebuild the trust in our congregation. Our developmental ministry goal for the year was a very aspirational goal and hard to measure. Nonetheless, I believe that we have moved into a better place and things are going well.

At the Board meeting this past week, we had several important business items. We approved the hiring of a new DRE, Nicole Allemane. We are sorry to see Nureet Carmel leave us, and we look forward to seeing our children’s Religious Education program continue to thrive under Nicole. We completed our evaluation of the developmental ministry over the past year, looking at what we had achieved and what we have left to do. We continued our work on flooring alternatives for the sanctuary. And we are setting up a covenantal campaign to provide financial backup for any major capital expenses over the next few years as we seek to replenish our capital reserve coffers.

Thank you again for trusting me with the leadership of our congregation over the past year. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your president.

In gratitude,
Lynne Capehart
