GAINESVILLE, FL – The UUF Social Justice Council and ACTION Network will celebrate their success in securing after-school bus service for the students of Pineridge on Tuesday, Sept, 23, at7 pm at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship. Refreshments to be served after one-hour meeting.

The new bus service, approved by the city commission, provides bus service to the after school Teen Zone programs at Fort Clarke and Westwood middle schools. Without this service, low income children from neighborhoods like Pineridge could not use these programs and had no safe, supervised place to go at the end of their school day.

The Social Justice Council of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has been active in the Pineridge community for years. The Council has provided 4-H clubs for the children, meeting twice weekly at UUF. Several children attended their summer day camp last year and this year went to spring break day camps. The ACTION network works through churches to empower people to solve community problems.
