Building a shared vision is important for the health of any community.  It is mission critical for one intending to be purposeful.  Michael Durall’s earlier book "The Almost Church - Redefining UUism for a New Era" began to help us build this vision for our Fellowship 3 years ago.  Michael, a Unitarian Universalist himself and longstanding cross-denominational church consultant, has the experienced eye to recognize the strategic flaw and overlooked opportunity.  He was staging a workshop in Vero Beach, titled “Redefining UUism for a New Era”, a venue within striking distance of Gainesville.  So close to 20 UUF leaders inhaled his book, and all pumped up with the promise of what this redefined vision could do for our Fellowship and UUism generally, headed south to join up with a very large UU contingent from all over Florida.
