Introducing Rev. Dr. Cathy Harrington!

I am very happy to introduce our Interim Developmental Minister, Rev. Dr. Cathy Harrington. Rev. Harrington will serve as Developmental Minister for UUFG for one year, beginning on August 1, 2018, as we conduct our search for a settled minister who will begin in summer of 2019. Rev. Harrington received her Mdiv from Starr King in 2004 and her Dmin from Meadville Lombard in 2012.

For the past four years Rev. Harrington has served as Developmental Minister with the UU Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Prior to that she was Senior Minister with Peoples Church Unitarian in Ludington, Michigan from 2004 – 2012. In addition Rev. Harrington has worked in several capacities in the field of advocacy for victims of violent crime.

Kristin Stevens of our interim ministerial search team writes “She has a strong personal call to both social justice work and community outreach and one of her personal spiritual practices is that of breaking bread together. Rev. Cathy brings an energetic and compassionate hand to ministry, understands how to reach beyond our sanctuary walls and engage in the community. We are thrilled to have her come help us work on our final developmental goal, and she is equally excited to join us in August as we enter our final year of developmental ministry.”

We are all very enthusiastic about Rev. Harrington’s depth of experience, her warmth and flexibility and her excitement about coming to Gainesville and UUFG. Many thanks to our interim search team for their successful completion of this search!

Welcome to Rev. Cathy Harrington!

In Fellowship,
Marilyn Roberts
Congregation President
